Little Eden

So many great memories were made during our week at Little Eden. I have so many pictures it is just easier to make a collage (and I have many more).  It is just the perfect family vacation! After all, I did not have to cook or think about cooking one single meal all week=dreamy!!! The kids love to run free around camp....playing games, racing their boats in the creek, crafting in the craft shop, and of course, swimming, fishing, and sailing.  They are busy from sun up to past sun down when enjoying ice cream from the snack shop at 9:30pm each night is a big deal for our kids. Did I mention how much I love Lake Michigan? I love Lake Michigan! Everytime I go I dream of what it would be like to live right on this amazing beach and watch sunsets every night....I can't imagine it would ever get old. It is so beautiful....we spent many hours there at the beach as well. Other highlights from this year include tubing/boating with family and friends, Hunter and Ethan winning the shuffleboard tournament (against their rivals who beat thenm last year), and visiting Sleeping Bear Dunes. We took a day trip to Sleeping Bear where we drove the 7 mile scenic tour, stopping at all the look out points. Reed and the kids climbed the 400 foot sand dune that they tell you NOT to climb but when you get there everyone IS climbing! The signs there say something to the effect of "Do not climb the sand dune but if you happen to, proceed with caution." And I mean everyone is on the dune. I chose not to climb it. Sure going down is great, but when I saw all the people trying to make it to the top afterwards and appearing to be in the midst of possible heart attacks, I knew I had made a good decision. I just stayed at the top and took pictures. We did, however, take a 3.5 mile round trip hike through sand dunes to Lake Michigan. I went into this dune trail very naive 7 uuaware of the length..... It was walking up and down hills thru the thick sand under the hot sun! Oh my! My calves were soooo sore for the next few days! If I had known how long it was I probably would not have gone but glad I did--well once anyway-will not happen again. The kids and Reed thought it was great and they were annoyingly not very affected by the strenous activity. I admit that I was relatively cranky on the way back from the lake, but had to admit it was an adventure.

Waterpark Fun

We had a nice getaway to a waterpark this winter. The kids just love going here...
an advantage of homeschooling is we can go during the week when it
is less busy. Hunter and Ethan loved the Flow Rider and the Tasmanian Twister.
Izzy was tall enough to go on everything and loved it.

Little Eden Highlights

This was Izzy's third outfit in the first hours after arriving at camp. I was
not a happy camper.

This is where Izzy got so wet and muddy...spending time in the creek with the girls.

Fishing boat full of boys.....and one brave uncle

lots of tubin'

Craft shop

Ethan and Hunter played in the shuffleboard tournament.
In their first match they won against an older couple.

In the championship match, they lost by a narrow margin
to some boys about their same age.
It was quite exciting...they had the crowd watching them instead of
the volleyball game. What they've never seen excessive celebration
and fist pumping in a shuffleboard match before? ha!

Frog race....Ethan and Simon trying to get their frogs to jump!

Love these boys

Lake Geneva

Went to visit friends in Lake Geneva.
Had a wonderful time and many
adventures.
Pausing for a photo by the lake

Went for a 6 mile hike along the lakeshore....the kids did amazing!
It was a very hot day.

One of many mansions that we walked by. I especially loved this one.
All lake front property must maintain a path for the public to walk around the lake
so we got to view these beautiful homes up close.

Boat tour ....we enjoyed ice cream sundaes while hearing about the history
of many of the mansions around the lake.

Beach day!

Litttle house on the prairie fans

Rock climbing and exploring on the shore of Lake Michigan

The kids went in the tunnels/caves underneath the rocks.
Ethan was the amazing....winding his way til he couldn't go anymore.

The explorers.....dirty and ready for ice cream!

Day 6-Swimming & Epcot

This was our best day for swimming. It still wasn't real warm but at
least near 70 degrees. It was a relaxing morning.

After swimming we headed back to Epcot.

Kids wanted to ride Test Track again... they loved this ride!
Then we finished exploring in the World Showcase.

We ended our day eating at the
Garden Grill restaurant. It rotated while we ate.
We got to meet Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale.
